After watching the video, I realized that explaining the procedure, using distractions, etc., is not about preventing the patient from crying but establishing trust and rapport with the patient. When treating pediatric patients, it will be normal to cry when they feel pain, but when they understand the procedure and that you are an "ally, " they will still cooperate despite the pain.

The part where the child screamed was nerve-wracking. At first, I thought that her loud cry was an indication that the rapport and communication with her has failed. But upon finishing the video, it was surprising how the young child endured the pain and was still responsive and obedient to the instructions of the dentist. She even interacted by giving high-fives.
